Acheal
An award-winning, AI-powered healthcare web application designed for advanced acne detection and treatment.
Hafiz Muhammad Bilal
Researcher at UCP
A highly ambitious, research-driven web application designed to bring advanced AI dermatological screening to the public.
Acheal began as a volunteer research project for UCP and evolved into one of the most comprehensively designed healthcare platforms in Pakistan. The goal was to create an interface that felt highly accessible and intuitive, while housing complex, cutting-edge diagnostic technology.
I focused on a seamless user experience, establishing clear interaction models, and integrating a robust AI system that makes specialized skin analysis easy for anyone to access and understand.

Challenge
The platform needed to balance highly complex AI diagnostic tools with a frictionless, user-friendly digital structure.
The core challenge spanned both engineering and product design. Technologically, we needed an AI model capable of precise, nuanced dermatological analysis. Visually, most healthcare platforms feel clinical, clunky, or intimidating. The interface had to securely process user data and display medical results without overwhelming the patient. Every screen needed to feel safe, structured, and deeply empathetic to the user's journey.

Solution
I drove both the technical AI advancement and the comprehensive UI/UX design system.
On the engineering side, I collaborated with scientists at International University - VNU HCMC to upgrade an existing AI model (Acne 8M). By training it on a new, expansive dataset, we developed "Acne 9M"—pushing its capability to detect 11 distinct types of acne, marking a massive leap in accessible healthcare tech.
Design-wise, I built a fluid interface featuring highly interactive buttons and streamlined multi-step forms. This layout breaks down complex medical data-gathering into a calm, guided, and deeply engaging user experience.

Result
The platform set a new benchmark for digital healthcare, ultimately being awarded the Best Designed Project at UCP in 2025.
The final web app seamlessly merges an advanced AI diagnostic model with an intuitive, beautifully structured user interface. Acheal gives users a frictionless path to understanding and treating their skin, successfully turning complex medical research into a highly accessible, award-winning digital tool.
